by Kristin Miller
Release Date: July 28
Genre: Paranormal Category
Blurb:
Carter Griffin, enforcing officer for the Seattle Wolf Pack, has a problem. He’s been offered the promotion of his dreams…if he can find a wife to prove he’s over his playboy ways. But Carter’s already walked the matrimonial road and bought the stinkin’ T-shirt. Besides, a werewolf only gets one fated mate. Been there, done that.
All werewolf dog trainer Faith Hamilton wants to do is earn enough green stuff to put her younger brother through college. Okay, okay, so she also totally wants Carter, her sexy next-door neighbor, to look at her as more than a friend. It’s too bad size 12 and plain isn’t his type. At all.
The two friends strike a deal to help one another out. They must face a variety of challenges from a psycho ex-girlfriend to a Yorkie with a shoe fetish…and that pesky problem of only having one-fated mate in a lifetime. Will a relationship ruin their friendship…or spark a love neither anticipated?

Book Review:
I haven’t read any of the “Seattle Wolf Pack” novels but I really don’t think that it had much impact here. And for the most part it was more romance than paranormal so if that isn’t really your thing (but you are OK with it) then this is a book you’ll enjoy. There is some Were mythology and some pack dynamic stuff, but overall it boils down to a relationship story.
Faith has had a thing for Carter for a year, but he only sees her as a friend. He even discusses his girlfriends with her … not what she wants to hear when they are tall, blonde, skinny and gorgeous, while she’s short, curvy, and cute. Now he needs her to be his fake fiancé, what could go wrong? Yeah, exactly.
Carter has some serious trust issues, thanks to his cheating ex-wife. Considering the type of woman he’s dated since, it isn’t a surprise that he hasn’t really had any reason to change his mind about the fairer sex. Thrown together with his best-friend during their fake romance, he starts to see Faith differently. But since werewolves only get one true mate (here’s that Were lore part) and all of his relationships end horribly, what can he truly offer her?
So other than that one true mate thing, So I Married a Werewolf is a straight up trust/unrequited love thing. I love the friends-to-lovers relationship between the characters and their happy ending is sweet. With a ton of chemistry, likeable characters, and an intriguing story, I’m looking forward to seeing more from Miller.

A satisfying category romance from Entangled’s brand new Lovestruck imprint…
When New York matchmaker Addison St. Claire is tasked with matching her best friend’s new brother-in-law, she almost refuses. But the sexy southern CEO turns out to be a challenge she can’t resist, because if anyone needs to meet his soul mate, it’s this man. And if matching him with someone else removes the temptation of being near him? Even better.
The last thing Caine McNeill needs is a matchmaker—especially a gorgeous redhead who spouts nonsense about soul mates, critiques what he drives and how he dresses, buys him a dog, and pesters him about a million little things he couldn’t care less about. It’s a crying shame he has to keep his hands off because chemistry like what’s flaring between them ought to be explored. Thoroughly.
And so the battle begins. Addison is determined to stick to her plan of setting him up on dates with other women, and Caine is equally determined to ignore these women and seduce her.

inIt’s a day for thrillers as we now take a look at Katie Reus’s Bound to Danger … and yummy hero Cade O’Reilly.
*****
by Katie Reus
Genre: contemporary romance/thriller
Blurb:
At a benefit dinner, community activist Maria Cervantes overhears two men plotting a terrorist attack that could rock Miami to its core. But before she can alert authorities, she’s almost killed in a massive explosion—and wakes up in a hospital with no memory of what happened. As the sole survivor of the attack, she is now a person of interest to the NSA—and especially to Agent Cade O’Reilly. Because Maria is the one woman Cade has never been able to forget.
Years ago, they were closer than either was willing to admit—until Cade disappeared when Maria needed him most. Now he’s sticking by her, whether she likes it or not. Because the memories locked inside her mind could hold vital clues to the next attack. Because terrorists want her dead—and because he never wants to let her go again.
*****
Excerpt:
Cade weighed his options. He could head back the way they’d escaped and make an attack using her back door as a point of entry. But he didn’t know how many people were inside. There wasn’t time to call in a backup team. Whoever was in her house was likely looking for her or trying to find a way to locate her. Or hell, maybe they were setting up a trap for when she came home. He’d have to call in a bomb squad to check her house out.
But first, he was going to plant a tracker on that truck, then get Maria to safety. Under other circumstances he would have handled things much differently, but he didn’t like leaving Maria exposed and unprotected. So instead of infiltrating her house and taking the intruders on, one on one, he took the less risky path. Right now she was his priority, and if something happened to him, she’d be left unprotected. He’d been tasked with guarding her, and he was damn sure going to.
Sticking to the shadows, he headed back the way he’d come but bypassed Maria’s hiding spot and raced down the street until he could cross over without being noticed. From there, getting to the truck unseen wasn’t a problem. Even with the streetlights, Cade was used to hiding when necessary. There were plenty of vehicles and trees along the street, all providing the perfect cover.
Once he’d reached the yard next to where the vehicle was parked, he hid behind a tree and watched Maria’s house across the street. Now he could see a faint light in the upstairs room. Her bedroom. The knowledge that some strangers were in her home, invading her privacy, made a surprising pop of anger surge through him.
Taking a calming breath, he focused on the truck. Now that he was closer and from his angle, he could see into the backseat through the windshield. There was just one shadow, wide enough shoulders to be male, and he could see the same red glow of the cigarette. From the way the shadow was angled, it was clear the man was watching the house. Which was good for Cade.
Ducking down, he crouched and moved out from his hiding place. Staying low, he half crawled his way across the sidewalk and then rolled onto his back when he was directly next to the truck. Slowly, he pulled one of the standard trackers he always carried with him out of his pants pocket. He slid the small switch on, removed the adhesive backing, and reached under the chrome running board. As he did, the hushed sound of two male voices drifted closer.
His heart raced against his chest, his adrenaline pumping overtime as he pressed the tracker into place. When he was sure it would stick, he rolled away and made his way to the closest tree. The moment he ducked behind it, he barely heard the sound of multiple vehicle doors opening, then closing almost simultaneously. He didn’t dare move from his spot, though he drew his weapon in case he’d been spotted.
When the engine roared to life and he heard the truck pull away from the curb, only then did he fish out his cell phone. It was time to track these bastards.

When it comes to hand-to-heart combat, no hold is barred.
Molly Ryan survived one attack, and she’s not about to be a sitting duck for another. With her attacker harassing her from his jail cell, she packs up her life in Chicago, follows her Delta Force brother to North Carolina and gets work in a pub. Men in uniform are definitely off her menu, but her boss’s friend, Army Ranger Callum Eversman, is one hot hunk she’d like to sample.
Home on a two-week furlough, Cal has agreed to watch over Molly as a favor to fellow Ranger Noah Harper. Accomplishing his mission without her noticing? That’s going to be tough, as any idiot can see their sparks of attraction from a mile away.
Despite her hands-off-military-men policy, Molly is tempted to indulge, just this once, in a no-strings-attached fling. No dating, no kissy face, no hearts involved. But when her past threatens her future, there’s only one man to turn to. The one who’ll risk everything—body, heart, and soul—to protect her.

Excerpt:
Propping her bare feet on the edge of the ancient desk, Molly Ryan took a well-deserved pull of her beer. Before dropping her head back to ease the tension in her shoulders she closed her aching eyes and sighed heavily. It was nearly two in the afternoon, which meant she’d been locked in the pub’s office for roughly six hours, getting caught up on the weekly invoicing, payroll and upcoming supply orders.
The office had no window to enjoy the lake view, but she knew it was a glorious, sunny summer day. It was well worth the sacrifice of her Sunday off to know that she’d put a major dent in her work week, though. With Noah and Tennyson off on their honeymoon for the next two weeks, they’d left Molly in charge of more than just her normal duties.
Managing a busy pub like the Drunken Duck was enough work, but taking on Noah’s responsibilities as owner added a little more tension to her shoulders. To be fair, it was a challenge she was more than up for. Noah had left his brother, Chris, as her second in command for the duration, giving plenty of help.
She heard the service door open down the hall. Undoubtedly it was Chris to check in with her. He had a normal work week as an architect and helped out in the evenings and weekends as needed. He was likely stopping after seeing her sporty red coupe in the empty parking lot.
“Hey, Mr. Sexy Pants, I’m in the office. Bring me another beer on your way!” She couldn’t help teasing him. He’d spent the previous night fighting off advances from Lexie, his latest crazy chick, as Tenn would call her. At one point Lexie had cornered Chris next to the bar, put a slim hand down the front of his tuxedo pants, and called him Mr. Sexy Pants loud enough for half the bar to hear. Watching Chris turn ten shades of red while attempting to pull the tenacious girl’s hand from his pants had caused Molly to fall off her bar stool in hysterical laughter. Even after landing squarely on her ass and spilling her scotch down the front of her bridesmaid dress, effectively ruining it, she still couldn’t stop laughing.
As the office door opened behind her, she pushed off from the desk. The movement sent the chair whirling around, making the tiny room spin in a quick half turn.
“Hey… Oh.” Well, that wasn’t Chris standing in her doorway. Where Chris was leanly muscled, this guy looked like a hulking linebacker, with heavily muscled arms and a chest broad enough to block the sun. He had a black duffel bag slung over one shoulder, exposing the underside of a thick biceps and a heavy tribal tattoo ending at the elbow.
Intensity pulsed off of him. Light mocha skin, a smoothly shaved head, and steely gray eyes, he exuded a quiet watchfulness that was at odds with his stern demeanor. He had an obvious perpetual scowl set on his face. A face, upon closer inspection, that had a full mouth and broad features and a light scar running across his left cheek, just under the eye.
He watched her watching him, and no one spoke for a moment. Molly belatedly realized she was sitting in front of a ridiculously hot stranger in her pajamas. Not even her cute pajamas. When she’d rolled out of bed after a night of just a little too much scotch and not enough sleep, she hadn’t even considered running into anyone. Her apartment was three blocks away, the pub was closed every Sunday, and most of the town was also recovering from Noah and Tenn’s wedding reception.
Who was this guy, and where had he come from? And could she keep him?
~
If the vixen in black pajama bottoms with pink skulls was Noah’s new bride, then Cal was in a lot of trouble. It went against his code to covet a fellow soldier’s woman. But he was hard-pressed to take his eyes off the petite beauty with a shock of unruly auburn hair and a full, pouty mouth. She darted her tongue across a lush bottom lip, causing his libido to stand at attention.
It was well past time to stop cataloging every attribute of the woman before him, especially if she was Noah’s. “I’m looking for Noah Harper. Is he around?”
“Noah?” She shook her head, as if clearing it, before going on. “He’s not in, but I’m the manager of the Drunken Duck. Can I help you?”
It was relief, first and foremost, that washed over him. Cal was grateful he’d had a chance to speak with Noah earlier in the week. Molly wasn’t Noah’s wife, but the woman he was here to look after.

inNow we’re going to look at what could be a heartbreaker … but it looks too good to pass up!
*****
Award Winning author, Lizzy Ford, gives us an emotional, sexy read with her first Sons of War novel, SEMPER MINE.
A Marine captain tortured by the death of his men in Iraq returns home and falls in love with the sister of one of the slain, who blames him for the massacre that killed her brother. SEMPER MINE, is a standalone novel in the Sons of War contemporary military romance series.
“A freak accident landed both of the Khavalov twins under my command, just before a routine mission turned into a nightmare. I brought home one twin in a coffin and the other in a coma missing his leg. I did everything right – and still people died. I can’t forget that night or how many lives it changed, including mine.
It’s natural for their sister, Katya, to blame me. I made one decision in the middle of a firefight, and it shattered her sheltered world. I’m the ice to her fire, and when we first meet, it’s not pretty. I don’t fear war or death, and I am definitely not going to let a beautiful woman with a quick temper and broken heart scare me off, either. I know she’s hurting, and I’m determined to make sure she’s okay. It’s the least I can do for the twins.
I may have failed them that night, but I won’t fail her. What I’m not counting on: the feelings she ignites within me.” – Captain Sawyer Mathis
Also in the Sons of War series: SOLDIER MINE, coming fall 2014!
*****
Excerpt:
I Hate This Man
Opening the door, I spot the dress uniform of a Marine and frown, then look up at him.
Dark hair and eyes, olive complexion, heavy jaw, tapered nose, full lips and a low brow. He smells clean and of some light, sweet cologne that reminds me of coconuts. He’s got the lean physique and wide upper body of a swimmer that I’d drool over, if he were any other man.
“You,” I hiss.
Captain Sawyer Mathis has an intensity and calmness around him that infuriates me, especially when I think of how detached and cold he was at Mikael’s funeral, like saying
farewell to my brother was a chore. His brown eyes are on me. He’s as handsome as he is good at taking out the men of my family. Why Petr and Baba like him, I have no idea.
“Ma’am,” he replies.
“You here to make sure my other brother ends up six feet under?”
“No, ma’am. I’m here to check in on him.”
“These are family only visiting hours.” I slam the door closed, or try to.
His foot is jammed in the door. “With all due respect, ma’am, your brothers saved my life, which makes them more than family in my book.”
“With all due respect, Captain, I think you’ve done enough for my family.”
I swing the door open, realizing his foot isn’t about to budge. Planting my hands on my hips, I’m not about to move from the doorway.
Seeing him reminds me too much of Mikael and how I’ll never see my brother again. I’ll be damned if I’m going to let the man who got Mikael killed come near my Petr.
Captain Mathis’ jaw is clenched. I’m not sure what he can be thinking, but he sure as hell isn’t expressing anything that makes me think he’s more human than he was at Mikael’s funeral. I don’t know why he bothered showing up that day.
“If you want in, you’ll have to move me out of the way,” I tell him.
“You can’t weigh more than one thirty. I’ve carried packs heavier than you.” His gaze sweeps over me. “I’ll be out of your way in five minutes, ma’am,” he adds calmly. “But I won’t leave until I get that five minutes with your brother.”
“Violence and threats are the weapons of choice, I see. Guess it comes naturally to someone who thinks invading some sovereign country over oil and getting innocent people killed is the right thing to do.”
A flare of something crosses his gaze and vanishes quickly. “And I imagine you think saving the whales is more important than funding the equipment people like your brothers needed to stay alive in a hostile environment.”
“There wouldn’t be a hostile environment if we had a policy of peace rather than war,” I
point out.
“I didn’t start the war, ma’am, but I will win it so people like you can maintain your way of life.”
“You aren’t going to win if you keep killing off your own men!” God, what an asshole!
We glare at one another, the air between us charged and thick. I hit a nerve with him and sense it. I’m happy for it. I hate this man, because he came back when my Mikael didn’t. Not even Captain Mathis’ thick biceps and broad chest can make up for him being what he is: the representation of everything I despise about the military and war that took my brother away.
“Step aside, ma’am.” The order is gravelly, low and quiet in the resolute tone of a natural leader. It cuts through my anger. His gaze is piercing. He’s not like my brothers and father. He’s not backing down.

Society paints him as stern and subdued, yet fair. Society didn’t warn her that beneath his somber façade beats a passionate heart and soul.
Hugh finds himself irresistibly, inexplicably, drawn to the spirited American, despite himself and his better judgment. As the inconvenient heiress takes on the fight against the very foundation of his life and career, another battle wages in his once cold heart. Everything about her is inappropriate, illogical, and unexpected. Yet, she is a woman he could admire. A woman of intelligence and beliefs that challenge the existing world.
But she is forbidden.

inIn the stunning prequel novella to her new mixed martial arts series, New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster brings together an elite fighter and the woman he’s determined to win.
Brute strength. Unforgettable moves. It’s no wonder Harper Gates hasn’t been able to get her fling with Gage “Savage” Ringer out of her head. Months have passed since she laid eyes—or any other body parts—on him. Months without a word of contact…until, sidelined by injury, he comes back to town.
Staying focused on his training seemed like a smart move to Gage, even if he thought about Harper every day. Seeing her again only makes it clear how much is at stake. He’s got one night to earn back her trust. One night to show her that behind his breathtaking skill and ripped body is a man who’ll give her everything she needs.
I absolutely ADORED Foster’s SBC Fighers series and I’m super excited to see she’s bringing readers another MMA series!
I think the blurb is a little deceiving – Harper and Gage were starting a relationship when he got the chance at a main card fight. It’s a big deal and he’s sure that Harper will understand his need to go away to train without distractions … distractions like Harper. (Yeah, silly man!) So when an injury causes him to be cut from the fight, he heads home, thinking everything will be like before. (Yeah, very silly man!) Once he realizes what happens he does what he needs to in order to convince Harper how he feels. Basically he’s a typically clueless hero who has to fix his screw up and win back his girl. And it’s hot. And sweet. Did I say hot? Whew!
Foster has an absolutely stellar writing style (as proven by her 80+ story booklist and almost 2 decade career) and it’s in full force with Hard Knocks. We jump right in the middle of Gage and Harper’s relationship but it is never awkward as we learn their history and see them work their way toward a HEA. She gives us engaging characters, with realistic issues and feelings, and a lot of sizzle. I love the passion and genuine caring with Harper and Gage. They love each other but also their friends and their community. It’s a wonderfully tight little group that I can’t wait to get to know better.
Novella in length, but not in impact, Hard Knocks is a great intro to the “Ultimate” series. Added to the fun, we also get to meet the other guys at the gym, all of whom are likely to have a fantastic story of their own. No Limits is due on shelves in late August and another story follows early next year. And I can’t wait!

inUSA Today bestselling author Jennifer Haymore puts a sexy spin on Cinderella in . . .
Beatrice Reece, Lady Fenwick, has retired from polite society. Everyone knows her late husband treated her abominably, and she simply cannot bear the whispers of the ton. But it’s the night of London’s premier masquerade ball-and Beatrice’s one chance to revel in anonymity. She hopes no one will recognize her beneath her mask, not even the sinfully sexy stranger across the room who holds her captive in his gaze . . .
Andrew Sinclair would know beautiful Beatrice anywhere from the gentle sway of her hips, the richness of her hair, and the lushness of her body. When he asks her to dance, the attraction is instant and all-consuming. The only woman he’s ever truly wanted is finally in his arms. But when the clock strikes twelve, will this one reckless night fade into the morning light?
I’ve read at least one of Haymore’s House of Trent stories – His for Christmas, which I really enjoyed – and I found this one to be just as good. Not having read the rest of the series, I don’t feel like it really impacted things that much … except, the history of Beatrice’s husband was likely expanded on in at least one of the stories. I don’t think that it really made any difference in how much I understood and enjoyed this one, but I’m sure it would have provided more detail.
One Night with an Earl is short but well put together. By the time it was done I felt like I understood the characters and was rooting for them to get their happy ending, which doesn’t always happen in books that run around 100 pages. Haymore does a fantastic job of giving her readers the history they need to believe that the two could fall for each other so quickly, without creating any sluggishness in the current happenings.
I really enjoyed how, because it was short, we get to concentrate on Beatrice and Drew. We are hand in hand with them as they move from the initial attraction to deeper feelings. Beatrice is understandably reluctant to trust herself with another man and Drew is insightful enough to get that, and to move slowly with her. It’s sweet, tender and heartwarming to see them slowly get past her guard.
From what I’ve seen with His for Christmas and One Night with an Earl, I think that Haymore is definitely going on my permanent TBR pile. Luckily she’s got a decent booklist to keep me occupied until the next book releases.
