Tough Justice

K-9 Special Ops series

by Tee O’Fallon

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Release Date: March 29th

Blurb:

It should have been a routine investigation. Instead, DEA K-9 agent Adam “Deck” Decker watches in horror as one Denver hospital seems to be Ground Zero for overdoses of a new drug. Now Deck can only hope a certain icy, green-eyed ER doctor will help him and his canine partner track down the deadly source.

Dr. Tori Sampson has her reasons for not trusting federal agents, especially ones working for the DEA. But the rash of overdoses—including a heartbreaking case involving a teen—is alarmingly high. And the new opioid is not only extremely dangerous, it defies all the usual medical treatments. So Tori has a choice: work with the big, brawny, and annoyingly hot DEA agent…or watch more innocent people die.

Tori’s the only person who can help Deck break the case, and they’ll need to trust each other, no matter how high the tension and attraction sizzling between them runs. But with every question answered, they realize there’s something more behind these typical teen overdoses. There’s a pattern here, and a pattern can only suggest one thing. There’s a killer on the loose.

Excerpt:

When he turned and locked gazes with her, her mouth went just a teensy, weensy bit dry.

In the examining room, she’d been concentrating on her patient, then she’d been so annoyed with Agent Decker that she hadn’t really seen him. There was no denying he brought out the fifty shades of animosity, but one thing was for certain: with his chiseled jawline, slightly cleft chin, and sexy as all-get-out five o’clock shadow, the man was about as handsome as it got. Hard not to admire his muscular physique, either. He must spend all his free time in a gym, lifting barbells and dumbbells and whatever other bells made a man’s body that way.

He closed his eyes, as if reciting a mental prayer. “Thanks, Doc.”

The last thing she wanted was gratitude from the DEA. The short-lived attempt to rein in her internal bitch flew out the window as the past came roaring back in a rush of emotion. Especially the distraught look on her dad’s face that fateful day.

“Don’t thank me,” she bit out. “I’m just doing my job. Maybe if the great and powerful DEA did its job, drugs wouldn’t be sold on every street corner in Denver, and Colorado’s opioid crisis wouldn’t be spiraling out of control.

Your friend is the third opioid overdose I’ve treated today, and the tenth this week. Three of those patients died. And that’s just on my shifts. I can’t speak to what happens when I’m not here or how many are dying before they even get to the hospital.” She blew out a breath and grappled for a calm she didn’t feel. “Whatever just hit the streets could be the beginning of something really scary, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. But you can.”

He opened his mouth to say something, but she cut him off. “And another thing.” She jabbed a finger at him. “This is my castle, not the DEA’s. If you ever come into my ER again, I’ll have you thrown out on your muscled ass.”

SERVE ‘N’ PROTECT by Tee O’Fallon is coming in one week! Check it out and grab your copy today!

Serve ‘N’ Protect

Federal K-9 Series

by Tee O’Fallon

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Release Day Blitz: September 20th

Blurb:

Ambushed and left for dead, U.S. Secret Service K-9 Officer Markus York is on the mend and laying low in a safe house while his team tracks down his attacker. But Markus isn’t good at sitting still. Even with his K-9, Ghost, for company, he gets restless and decides now is the perfect time to do some repairs around the house…and inadvertently tears open his wounds.

Fresh out of a bad relationship that ended after a car accident left her with limited mobility, freelance accountant Cassidy Morgan has sworn off men. At least, that’s the plan. Until a frantically barking dog leads her to a neighbor’s house where she finds a mysterious man out cold and bleeding on the floor…and mumbling things like “no, they’ll find me” when she tries to call an ambulance.

Yeah, that’s not at all concerning.

Despite Markus’s surly attitude, Cassidy senses there’s something else at work beneath his rugged, keep-your-distance exterior. Whatever it is, it’s sexy as hell.

With someone still trying to kill him, Markus doesn’t want an innocent to get hurt, let alone take care of him.

If only his dog wasn’t crazy in love with her.

If only the chemistry between Markus and Cassidy didn’t explode whenever they were in the same room.

If only Cassidy wasn’t a target now, too.

Excerpt:

Fear snapped her into action and she threw her legs over the side of the bed. No sooner had the alarm kicked on than it abruptly kicked off. The barking eased to an occasional snarl. What she heard next frightened her more.

Voices. Lots of voices, and she knew whose they were.

Her entire family was downstairs. All six of them.

And Markus is alone with them.

With her heart racing at what she could only imagine in her worst nightmares was happening downstairs, she snatched up her clothes then opted for the more expeditious option—her robe.

Still tying the robe around her waist, she all but ran from the bedroom. Halfway down the stairs, she froze. Heat scorched her face.

Markus’s expression was grim as he stood in front of the keypad in nothing more than his jeans and a gun tucked into the small of his back. Ghost sat obediently beside him, with only the slightest rumble coming from the back of his throat. Her father, mother, two brothers and sisters stood in front of the open door.

“What’s doing, sis?” her oldest brother, Jimmy, asked in a frosty tone.

Wearing only her robe, it was pretty darned obvious exactly what she and Markus had been doing.

“Merry Christmas, Cassidy,” her younger sister, Kaitlyn, said, flipping back her unruly head of red curls and grinning as she cast an unabashedly appreciative eye at Markus. “Merry Christmas to you, too.”

While she totally understood her sister’s sentiments because, well, Markus was hotter than hell in his bare feet and the top snap of his jeans still undone, it irked to have her sister drooling over her new boyfriend.

Boyfriend?

She shook her head to clear it. Deciphering what she and Markus were exactly would have to wait. Especially after last night’s conversation. Right now, there were more pressing matters at hand. Like keeping her father and brothers from pounding on Markus all at once.

Cassidy took the rest of the stairs in record time, stepping in front of Markus and Ghost as if they needed protection. He might not know it, but he does. “What are you all doing here?”

Sean, the second oldest sibling of the family, tapped a finger on his watch. “It’s ten o’clock, Cass. On Christmas Day.”

She gasped. Oh my gosh.

Her father pursed his lips as he glared at Markus. “We were worried about you, lass,” he said in the same thick Irish brogue that hadn’t diminished much, even after decades of living in the U.S.

Jimmy crossed his arms. “You’re always the first under the tree. When you didn’t show at nine on the button, we were surprised.”

“When you didn’t show by nine fifteen,” her older sister, Brianna, chimed in, “we got a little worried.”

“By nine thirty,” her mother added in a lilting brogue and coming to wrap an arm around her shoulder and give her a good squeeze, “we decided to come by and check on you. You can blame me for that. I insisted.”

Then and there, she made a New Year’s resolution to collect every single one of her house keys from every single member of her family so this would never, ever happen again. “I’m sorry to have worried all of you, but you could have called or at least texted.”

“Between all of us”—Sean swept his arm to encompass the family—“we probably called ten times.” He pointed to her phone which was right where she’d left it last night. On the kitchen counter.

She smacked a hand to her forehead. “You did call, didn’t you?”

As if sensing there were no words he could say to pacify her family at finding a half-naked man and a snarling dog in her house, Markus wisely remained silent. She couldn’t be sure whether the slight upturn of his lips was a grimace or a smile. Given the awkwardness of the situation, she’d go with grimace.

Her father arched a brow. “Care to introduce us, lass?”

I don’t know why but I just love these suspense stories with dogs. The authors really know how to make them a central character just as much as their human counterparts.

Excerpt:

“Dayne, really,” Kat admonished, but from the hint of a smile spreading on her face, she wasn’t offended in the slightest. “Hmm.” She tapped her finger on her chin and began circling him, eventually stopping behind him. When she tugged at the hem of his jacket, her fingers grazed the top of his ass. A lightning bolt of sensation shot down the backs of his legs, then up the front to— Dammit all to hell, they had an audience.

Her hands released his jacket and he exhaled a breath of relief. That was until she came to stand directly in front of him. Things were about to get worse. Even her flowery perfume was making him hornier than a rhinoceros in a rose garden.

He tried focusing on anything besides the way she smelled. Or the way her dress dipped torturously low toward her softly mounded breasts.

Tiny pink gemstones sparkled at her ears and from a thin gold chain around her neck. The tips of her toes— painted light pink—peeked out from delicate gold sandals. Yeah, focus on her toes.

Again, not working. Even the woman’s toes were sexy. Kat rested her hands on his shoulders then smoothed them down the front of his jacket. “This looks good.” He swallowed, hard, as his slacks tightened painfully over his dick. Luckily, she blocked everyone else’s view.

When her hands parted the sides of his jacket and her eyes dipped to his waist, a bead of sweat trickled between his shoulder blades. As she skimmed the tips of her fingers along the front of his cummerbund, flames licked at his balls.

“Kat, no!” He grabbed her wrists, holding them away. “The tux is fine.” He could barely choke out the words as he struggled for control. Of his libido and his emotions. Where she was concerned, both were inextricably entwined.

Her eyes were questioning at first then she looked down—at his giant, throbbing boner.

Her cheeks flushed, and her eyes flared with awareness of what she’d unwittingly initiated.

“Yeah. We’re done here.” Releasing her wrists, he spun and stalked away to cool his jets in the bathroom.

When the door shut behind him, he went straight to the sink and cranked on the tap. He cupped his hands and splashed cold water in his face.

Time to face undeniable, scary-as-shit facts.

He wanted her like nobody’s business, and it wasn’t just about sex. It was about—more. She was getting to him. Hell, she’d already gotten to him. But getting involved with her could have dire consequences and not just because being around her messed with his head.

His feelings for her went way beyond a one-night stand or even a brief fling. What worried him was the long run. Could they really fit into each other’s worlds?

His guts twisted at the thought of never seeing her again when this was over. If he didn’t stay clear of the trigger that would set them off they could both wind up burned and bleeding with their hearts cut into tiny pieces.

Excerpt:

The man was absolutely, freaking hot from his toes to his head. She’d seen him without a shirt before, but then she’d been so concerned about his injuries, she hadn’t been capable of focusing on his extreme level of fitness.

Uber. Understatement.

Long, muscular legs filled out a pair of black sweats. A white sleeveless, sweat-dampened t-shirt that said FLETC on it, stuck to his chest and abs in a way that showed every cut muscle on the man’s upper body. A light sheen of sweat glistened on his thickly muscled shoulders, biceps, and forearms. Normally, sweaty men didn’t do a thing for her. Her perspective on that score had just changed. Drastically.

Day-aamn.

“Why don’t you just rearrange my furniture, too?” he said more than asked, in a slightly amused, and very deep, sexy voice.

“I’m doing yoga.” Trying not to drool, she rolled forward, arching her back as she transitioned to cobra then eased back to her starting point.

“I know that,” he said from behind her. “What do you call that pose?”

“Downward dog.”

He chuckled, and Tiger lifted his head. “Seriously?” Now, his tone definitely held humor.

Too distracted to continue, she stood, trying not to stare at all those bulging, sweaty, glistening muscles. “You should try it.”

“No.” He frowned.  “I shouldn’t.”

“You don’t know what you’re missing,” she insisted. “Contrary to what you obviously think, it will make you stronger.”

“If I want to be stronger, I’ll lift more weights.”

“You are such a guy.” She began to laugh, nearly choking when a bead of sweat trickled down his temple to his rock-hard jaw, and from there, slithered down his corded neck. She’d never thought of sweat as sexy before, but now… Oh. My. “Yoga uses different muscles and in a different way, stretching and strengthening them. It also contributes to good, healthy chi.”

He nodded, clearly feigning serious consideration. “A healthy chi is the cornerstone of any good breakfast. Don’t know about the candle.” He wrinkled his nose, the same way Tiger had, then picked up a yellow crystal from the end table. “What’s this?”

“Citrine,” she said. “It harnesses the energy of the sun. Some say it’s the energetic power center of a woman’s body, capable of catapulting her into a leadership role. It’s one of my favorite crystals.”

“Why?” He cocked his head.

“One day I hope it jump-starts my business.”

“What business?” He set the candle back on the table and crossed his arms, making those deliciously sweaty biceps bulge even more.

“A shop. Something like that little corner store we went into yesterday.” When his brows lowered, she regretted confiding that in him. She was light years from accomplishing her goal, and seeing his skeptical reaction made her self-conscious. “It’s a pipe dream, really. I’m taking online courses to get my MBA.” His brows lowered further, and she parked her fists on her hips. “What? You don’t think I can do it?”

He made a scoffing sound. “You’re one of the most capable women I’ve ever met. I think you can do anything you set your mind to.”

For a moment, she was struck dumb enough by his words to be completely speechless. She honestly hadn’t known he thought of her that way. Knowing he did, sent a warm surge of…well, something through her system.

“And this one?” He picked up her favorite crystal, a rose quartz similar to the one she wore around her neck, only bigger.

“Rose quartz. It not only promotes positive energy, but enhances all types of love, especially unconditional love.” Something she’d yet to experience. Someday, perhaps. When all the stars and planets aligned in perfect harmony. In other words, probably never.

Eric rubbed his thumb and forefinger back and forth over the smooth, pale pink facets. There was something so intimate—so personal—about his big fingers caressing her crystal, it made her shiver.

“Can’t you feel it?” she asked. “All that warm, potent energy stroking your muscles and seeping into your bones?” The minute the words were out, she cringed, sorely regretting them. Any conversation involving “stroking” and “bones” in the same sentence… Bad choice of words.

His clear blue eyes darkened, becoming turbulent, the way she imagined the Caribbean Sea would look, all churned up by an incoming storm.

Oh, girl. Focus on something else. Besides the intensity of those beautiful baby blues.

Or stroking his bone.

Armed ‘N’ Ready

Federal K-9 Series

by Tee O’Fallon

Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Nick Houston is as tough as they come, and he and his K-9, Saxon, are hot on the trail of a major illegal gun dealer. But his best lead—the beautiful owner of the Dog Park Café, Andi Hardt––is not cooperating. Doesn’t matter how sexy she is, or that his dog seems to be in love with her. She’s a suspect and he won’t cross that line. Ever.

Andi Hardt sank everything into her dream business—the Dog Park Café, a restaurant catering to dogs as much as people. Now everything is in jeopardy because of one extremely frustrating, incredibly hot state trooper. Like it or not, she’s in Nick’s crosshairs, and he’s calling the shots. Her only option: cooperate, or lose everything she’s worked so hard for.

Nick and Andi are catapulted straight into the danger zone, forcing them to make life-altering choices, and face their desires. Risking his life for Andi is the easy part. Risking his heart is the toughest assignment Nick will face.

O’Fallon gives readers a well-paced suspense story and I really enjoyed seeing how the case played out.  I had no idea where it was going but it was totally believable – nothing came out of left field and felt unconnected to the rest of the story, which is always a plus for this kind of book.

Both characters were really fun and their interactions entertaining.  It’s a bit of a slow burn as they have to deal with how she fits into his case, giving them plenty of time to get to know each other (and cause a few sparks along the way).   There was a little bit at the end where I went “uh, ok” with how they reacted to a situation that put their relationship into question but it was a small bump in an otherwise enjoyable read.

Armed ‘N’ Ready has the perfect blend of love story and action to keep the pages turning.  And some great secondary characters and relationships just for dog lovers 🙂

(This is the second book in the series, but can easily stand on its own.)

I have received ARCs of books free from BookTrib.com to review but the majority of the stories are either bought by me or provided for free from the publisher. The opinions I share are my own and in no way are influenced by an author or publisher. There is no promise of a positive review by any party and there is no additional compensation. Unless otherwise noted, I am not affliated with any contest or other event mentioned on this blog and I do not receive a paid endorsement for any posts.
